Peace & Justice Conference Sunday, April 28 The Olympia Movement for Justice and Peace will hold an educational, organizing and networking anti-war, peace and justice conference on Sunday, April 28, 2002 at the Longhouse, The Evergreen State College, Olympia from 9am-6pm. The planning for the conference has been happening for about two months but the date and location has now been firmed up to avoid conflicting with other events that will be happening in the spring. The title of the Conference is "Organizing for Peace and Justice". Details are still be worked out, but the general framework will be a public presentation from a very informed panel from 10:00am-11:30am (Speakers are being invited) and three periods of workshops during the day so that all participants can be involved in discussion and organizing. Many of the workshops will be repeated during the day. Day care will be provided and many issues will be discussed. A major goal of the conference is to solidify and improve the organizing that is being done in the Pacific Northwest about the war (both domestic and international), especially along the I-5 corridor from Vancouver, B.C. to Portland, OR (other are invited also). All those who are reading this should inform their friends and progressive contacts within a day's drive of Olympia about this conference. A successful conference will improve the quality of our work over the next year. The conference will be sponsored by OMJP, the academic programs "Making A Difference: Doing Social Change", "Alternatives to Capitalism" and other community groups, programs, and student groups TBA.
