Olympia Needs Responsive Leadership

In March, I announced that I was a candidate for the Olympia City Council. Today, I'm telling you why I'm running and what I hope to accomplish, and am asking for your support.

Olympia is a great place to live, but we have the potential to be an even stronger and more vibrant community in the future. To achieve this potential we need responsive leaders who will listen to the many voices of the community, and who will bring diverse people together to identify opportunities and solve problems. I am committee to this concept of responsive leadership, and believe my broad community experience and strong leadership skills will be an asset to Olympia.

I have three specific issues I will pursue after I am elected to the City Council:

1) Working to build a sustainable local economy.

2) Improving the safety and quality of life in Olympia's neighborhoods.

3) Ensuring an open and responsive city government, and strengthening trust and communication between citizens and City Hall.

I'm pleased to have the backing of both the Green Party of South Puget Sound and the Thurston County Democrats. This bipartisan support is an important part of my campaign strategy, because I believe that building a strong Green/Democrat coalition is essential to electing progressive candidates at all levels.

Since announcing my campaign, many people have stepped forward to offer their advice and to support the campaign with their money and their time. But more help is still needed. Over the coming months there are doorbells to ring, voters to call, yard signs to install, envelopes to stuff, money to raise, and events to organize. To get involved, please contact me at 556-4596, or via our website at http://www.tjforcouncil.com

With your support, we can and we will add a progressive voice to the Olympia City Council.
