Let's keep WIPPING 'em out!

Works In Progress needs one or more people to take over production coordination

by Sandy Mayes

After sixteen years of steady publication, this exciting local media project, this amazing collaboration between the WIP worker collective and the readership/community, has as much or maybe even more energy and momentum than ever. Visit our new website if you need a tangible testimony to the value and power of this project.

And now, Works In Progress is once again entering a period of major transition. Once again, one or more people are needed to step into the role of coordinating the content and production of this newspaper each month. The role is demanding and time consuming and thus it is not something one can do indefinitely. But I can personally attest to it being a profoundly gratifying experience for anyone who values the project and the community it serves.

And you couldn't hope to work with a better group of people.

The training and transition phase will begin in November and will need to be completed by the end of January. Interested parties should know that the coordination role is much like a part-time salaried job ... without the salary, but the rewards are priceless.

It is important that readers do not underestimate the seriousness of the situation. Yet, this really is an exciting opportunity for people with a passion for local grassroots media. If you are interested in joining the all-volunteer WIP worker collective, in a central coordination role, or in some other capacity, please join us in an open meeting:

Monday, November 6, at 7pm at the

Olympia City Center

We've got the momentum ... let's keep it rolling!
