November 2006 Announcements

Vi vil føle savnet af jer!

Bring on the US Navy, Army, FBI, or the Port of Olympia firehoses! Whatever kind of Bosses you got...Melissa Roberts is ready for action!

You got a soup kitchen/homeless shelter in need of cash? Or maybe a grassroots lefty newspaper ? How about a gaggle of 22 defendants putting the War in Iraq on trial? She’ll whip up a Work-a-Day or Pizza Party fundraiser in no time. If that lefty newspaper or any other counterculture publication requires the talents of a top-notch layout artist...guess what? She’s your gal. Feeling oppressed in your place of employment and need some iww-style organizing tips? Call Melissa.

Oh, wait ... sorry. Too late. She’s leaving! Now in service of that grandest of causes: life, liberty and the pursuit of true bliss, one of Olympia’s most natural of wonders, is relocating to Denmark. Hard as it may be for most of us to comprehend, since―as one friend and comrade tried to point out―“They don’t even have a Movement in Denmark!”... it’s a done deal. She’s got the tickets; her bags are packed.

She leaves behind a trail of tangible gifts to the community. Whether it be the ofs program guide or the Co-op News or even this very newspaper, Melissa’s the one who for years has made our reading material pleasing to the eye. From Unity in the Community to the Support Lt. Watada campaign, her graphic artistry is everywhere...in our homes, in shop windows, and on bumper stickers, buttons, and T-shirts.

And more than anything, whatever the project or campaign, she helped make it both joyful and meaningful for the people around her.

Thanks Melissa, for everything you’ve given this community. We love you...we’ll miss you...and we wish you the very, very best.
