The Alliance for Democracy and the Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Committee present the movie: Thirst.
Friday, April 6 at 7:00pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 2200 East End Street NW, in West Olympia.
Is water part of a shared "commons," a human right for all people? Or is it a commodity to be traded in a global marketplace? "Thirst" tells the stories of communities in Bolivia, India, and the United States that are asking these fundamental questions. Over a billion people lack access to safe drinking water. Each year, millions of children die of diseases caused by unsafe water. The numbers are increasing. Who gets to decide who gets the water? You'll be surprised at the answers!

The Alliance for Democracy and the Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Committee present the movie: Sophie Scholl.
Friday, May 4, at 7:00pm at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 2200 East End Street NW, in West Olympia. Catch this movie series every First Friday of the month.
True story -- 1943. In the height of Nazi Germany, a small group of students and former soldiers formed the White Rose resistance movement. They created leaflets to distribute around the Third Reich. In blunt and idealist terms: they demanded Germans recognize the crimes against humanity and resist, sabotage and, undermine both the war machine and the propaganda of the Hitler government. Eventually betrayed and guillotined, they had unflinching courage, commitment to the truth and human values, even when faced with the iron fist of totalitarianism. A story of uncompromising principle tried by unprincipled power. It bears witness to our own times.
