Help Iraq vets start a coffeehouse in Tacoma
The concept of opening a GI coffeehouse near Ft. Lewis is becoming a reality. The Seattle and Tacoma Chapters of Iraq Veterans Against the War are raising money to open a GI-run coffeehouse near the Washington base. Coffeehouses have traditionally served as anti-war headquarters and have been integral in creating an anti-war GI movement. Only $5,000 is needed before the coffeehouse can open. If you can send $10 or any amount of money to the GI voice project in Tacoma, we can open a center of GI resistance.

Bush’s illegal war in Iraq. Those facing charges are expected to face prosecution, and this fund will help ensure their fair and equitable legal defense.

EGYHOP needs donations!
Unofficially, this year’s blanket drive has begun. The project formerly known as egyhop, now known as Done and Done, is low on supplies. Done and Done is a 501(c)(3) non profit that does street outreach seven nights a week, 365 days a year. We are entirely volunteer-operated, and depend heavily on support from this town. Many people depend on our continued existence, and we are the only resource available in town after all the other agencies and organizations have closed their doors.

Olympia Co-op offers coupon for donations to Ground Zero Center
2007 marks the twin 30th Anniversaries of two hope-filled local efforts, the Olympia Food Co-op and the Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action. In celebration of this spooky coincidence, the Tovarish D. Wagster Fund has arranged a way for Co-op shoppers to feel doubly good about their purchases! Few South Sounders are conscious that the Trident submarine base at Bangor (a mere 20 miles west of Seattle) now houses the nation’s largest single stockpile of nuclear warheads. The property of the G.Z. Center directly abuts the Bangor . . .

Works In Progress needs a new central coordinator!
After sixteen years of steady publication, Works In Progress has as much if not more energy and momentum than ever. And once again, one or more people are needed to step into the role of coordinating its content and production each month. The role is demanding and time consuming and thus it is not something one can do indefinitely. But it's been scientifically proven to be a profoundly gratifying experience for anyone who values the project and the community it serves.
And you couldn't hope to work with a better group of people.
