On Sept. 12, I was fortunate to be a part of a Green Party delegation to Senator Patty Murray’s office. We met with Ardis Dumont, Senator Murray’s Director of Special Projects, to talk about the impending US military action against Iran.
We were from Iran, Pakistan, India, as well as the Puget Sound area, and counted Muslims, Jews, and Christians among us. Individuals represented various groups: American Muslims of Puget Sound (AMPS), Ground Zero, Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), One Earth, StandUp! Seattle, Physicians for Social Responsibility, Raging . . .

Aaron Dixon, the Green Party candidate for US Senate, was arrested on October 17 for protesting his exclusion from a candidates' debate. The debate included Democratic incumbent Maria Cantwell, Republican Mike McGavick, and Libertarian candidate Bruce Guthrie. Candidates were included based on a complicated set of rules, which makes it exceedingly difficult for third parties to participate. Guthrie got in because he donated $1.2 million of his own money to his campaign -- and despite the fact that Dixon polls three times higher and has raised more money from . . .

Voters in Mason County have a unique opportunity to elect a pud commissioner who will set the district up to produce its own power from renewable sources spread across the county. Steve Garrison can make it happen.
The pud (Public Utilities District) is where the power choices are made for that community. When a county selects a clean, renewable energy source such as wind or solar power, it's one more step back from the brink of global climate change. In Mason County, that step can be taken.

On May 13, the Green Party of Washington State held its semiannual convention and by a 43-1 vote nominated Aaron Dixon as its candidate for the U.S. Senate. Aaron is a former Black Panther Party leader, and he is well known among African-Americans in Seattle for his decades of service to the community. While in the Black Panther Party, he started the Free Breakfast for School Children Program and a free medical clinic which continues to this day. More recently, he has worked for nonprofit organizations that serve the public in a variety of ways, from preventing drug and gang . . .

It's been suggested by supporters of my opponents that a vote for me is either pointless or amounts to a vote for another candidate, and that voting for anyone who isn't a Democrat or a Republican is immoral. I disagree.
Neither of my opponents represents our interests. Both support continuing the war and occupation of Iraq, even though 64 percent of Washingtonians agree with my call for an end to the war. Both of my opponents agree on issue after issue, whether it is support for the destructive and racist war on drugs, or support for a Patriot Act that shreds our civil liberties. . . .

Aaron Dixon, a community activist for over 40 years and former head of the Seattle Black Panther Party, has announced his plan to run for the U.S. Senate from Washington.
Dozens of supporters and news media packed the conference room at the Cannon House Assisted Living Residence in the Central District of Seattle to see Dixon launch his campaign. Running as the Green Party's candidate, he will be challenging incumbent Maria Cantwell, a Democrat elected by a razor-thin margin six years ago.

On March 24, the Green Party of South Puget Sound decided to petition the Port of Olympia Commissioners to change the name of our Port to "Peace Port of Thurston County."
We would rather run a candidate for one or both of the seats up for election this Fall, but we could find no candidate after three months of trying to identify someone within the districts up for election. Instead, the name change campaign is our backup plan of action against the militarization of the Port.
