It’s been one year since the members and staff of WROC, Welfare Rights Organizing Coalition, separated from the board to continue WROC’s important work under a new name. Lynn McMullen (left) and Jody Bernstein (right) dressed historically for the occasion. McMullen, cofounder of the newly formed Global Democratic Citizen's Union, dressed as Susan B. Anthony, and Bernstein dresed as Julia Ward Howe, the founder of Mother's day in 1870. She read Howe's original proclamation to remind people "of the profound loss and pain war creates for all mother's ..."
